Discription

CED Coating Plant

Advanced Electro-Deposition Coating Solutions for Industrial Applications

TECHNOHABITAT Pvt. Ltd. designs and manufactures CED Coating Plants for industrial manufacturers looking for a controlled and uniform electro-deposition coating process.

CED (Cathodic Electro Deposition), also known as Cathodic E-Coating or Cathodic Electrodeposition, is an electrically assisted coating process in which electrically charged paint particles are deposited onto a conductive component immersed in a coating bath.

The process can provide uniform coating coverage, including difficult-to-reach areas, and is widely used where corrosion protection and consistent coating performance are important.

TECHNOHABITAT develops CED coating systems according to the customer's component dimensions, production capacity, substrate, required coating thickness, process sequence, conveyor arrangement, available space, and level of automation.

Customized CED Coating Plant Solutions

Every manufacturing facility has different requirements. Our CED coating plants can be customized according to:

  • Component dimensions
  • Component weight
  • Production capacity
  • Substrate material
  • Required coating thickness
  • CED paint system
  • Tank dimensions
  • Process stages
  • Conveyor speed
  • Heating requirements
  • Curing requirements
  • Factory layout
  • Automation requirements
  • Water and chemical management requirements

The plant can be developed as a standalone CED coating system or integrated with a complete surface treatment and painting line.

CED Coating Process

A typical CED coating line may follow the sequence:

Loading → Pre-Treatment → Rinsing → CED Coating → Post Rinse → UF Rinse → Drain / Flash-Off → Curing → Cooling → Unloading

The exact number and sequence of stages depends on the substrate, coating material, chemical process, production requirements, and paint manufacturer's recommendations.

Main Components of a CED Coating Plant

1. Pretreatment System

Pretreatment prepares the component surface before it enters the CED bath.

Depending on the substrate and coating system, the pretreatment section may include:

  • Degreasing
  • Water Rinsing
  • Surface Conditioning
  • Phosphating / Conversion Coating
  • Final Rinsing

The actual pretreatment sequence should be finalized according to the chemical supplier's process requirements.

2. CED Coating Tank

The CED tank contains the electrodeposition coating bath in which components are immersed.

The tank design can be customized according to:

  • Component dimensions
  • Production capacity
  • Required immersion time
  • Conveyor speed
  • Paint bath volume
  • Plant layout

Suitable circulation and process-control arrangements can be incorporated to maintain the required coating bath conditions.

3. Rectifier System

The rectifier supplies controlled DC electrical power to the CED coating process.

The rectifier specification is selected according to factors such as:

  • Tank size
  • Component surface area
  • Required current
  • Coating process
  • Production capacity

Electrical parameters should be finalized based on the CED paint manufacturer's process specifications.

4. UF / Ultrafiltration System

An ultrafiltration system can be incorporated into the CED coating line for rinsing and recovery of coating material from the component surface.

UF systems can help separate permeate from the coating bath and support the required rinse and material recovery process.

5. Post-Rinse System

After leaving the CED tank, components can pass through one or more rinsing stages to remove excess coating material from the surface.

The rinse arrangement can be configured according to the coating system and required process sequence.

6. CED Curing Oven

After electrodeposition and rinsing, the coated components enter a curing oven.

The curing oven provides controlled heating to achieve the required coating properties.

TECHNOHABITAT can integrate:

  • Gas-Fired Curing Ovens
  • Electric Curing Ovens
  • Forced Hot-Air Circulation
  • Temperature Control Systems
  • Conveyorised Oven Systems

The curing temperature and time should always be established according to the CED paint manufacturer's technical data sheet.

Conveyor System

CED coating plants generally require controlled movement of components through the different process stages.

TECHNOHABITAT can provide customized:

  • Overhead Conveyors
  • Chain Conveyors
  • Continuous Conveyors
  • Loading & Unloading Systems
  • Component Hanging Systems

Conveyor speed and track layout can be designed according to production capacity, component weight, process times, tank dimensions, and factory layout.

CED Coating Plant Automation

Depending on production requirements, the CED plant can incorporate different levels of automation.

Manual / Semi-Automatic

Suitable for applications where operators control selected process functions.

Automatic

Suitable for higher-production applications where process parameters such as conveyor movement, temperature, tank levels, and selected process functions are automatically controlled.

Automation can be customized according to the required production process.

Key Features
